The weather held out enough so it wasn’t too foggy nor too hot for our meet this morning. I think the water may have been a bit chilly due to the cool weather we’ve been having, but it sure was nice by the side of the pool.
Thank you to all you wonderful volunteers who helped run today’s meet. You’re a great crew. (By the way, all the spots for volunteers are filled for our championship meet. Yeah, thank you for helping us.) Special thanks to Garry Bardakos (our starter) and Steve Glenn (our head timer) for stepping up today and doing something they’ve never done before. Both those jobs require a lot of hard work and aren’t easy. We thank you so much.
Thank you, swimmers, for giving us more reasons to cheer today. Lots of you continue to keep getting faster and faster. It’s very fun to see how you’ve improved since the beginning of the season. Special congratulations to our 7-8 girls free relay team of Isla Griston, Amy Heath, Lauren Graham, and Shelby Hicks. They’ve been trying and today they broke an eight-year-old team record for that swim. Good job. 7-8 Girls Break Pool Record 100 Free Relay Time 1:09.16
Thank you, coaches, for seeding us another good meet and for the fantastic cheer. (One of my most-favorite cheers) Your energy was contagious today–and no, Coach Tom did not drink any “monsters” before the meet today. He was charged on that DP spirit.
Our next meet, and our final dual meet of the season, is next Saturday, July 23 against Pleasanton Meadows at our pool. All swimmers need to be checked in with their coach by 8:00. The scratch meeting will be at 8:15, and we hope to begin the meet at 9:00. We have a few special activities for that meet which will begin at 8:45 a.m.
I want to remind you all the the cabana club’s adult party (for ages 21 and over) is also next Saturday, July 23 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Buy your tickets now through Wednesday and only pay $15/ticket. (After Wednesday, price increases to $20/ticket) This ticket gets you a catered dinner, two drink tickets, music, and an all-around great time out. Please see a lifeguard to purchase your tickets. Please make your check out to DPCC. Hope to see you there.
Swim Buddy slips are due by Wednesday.

Well, it was a hot night at the pool. Great weather for another summer swim meet. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped set-up, run, and take-down tonight’s meet. A meet is a huge event and we could never, ever run a meet without all your help. I so appreciate all that you do.
Thank you, swimmers, for more great races tonight. The coaches and I talked tonight about how much improvement we see in your swims. It’s really very noticeable in our younger age groups. All those things you’re being taught at practice are starting to “click.”
Thank you, coaches, for just being who you are–simply the best coaches (and people) ever . I’ll always want to be on your team.
Ruby Hill Meet Information
Our next meet is Saturday, July 9 against Ruby Hill at their pool. All swimmers must be checked in with their coach by 8:00 a.m. It will take more time to drive there and settle in so plan accordingly. The scratch meeting will be at 8:10 and the meet is planned to start at 9:00. I will not be at this meet. I think it’s the first meet I’ve ever missed. Lisa McMasters will be the coordinator. If you have any questions, concerns, or information, please contact her Thursday-Sunday. (lisa.mcmasters70@gmail.com) Listed below is general information from Ruby Hill.
Here is some general information about the meet that will be helpful:
- Our gates open at 7:15 am, you are welcome to arrive anytime after that.
- When you arrive at Ruby Hill, please have your families tell the guard station that you are attending the Ruby Hill Killer Whales swim meet. When you come into the neighborhood through the gate off of Vineyard Avenue, please turn to the left and proceed about a half mile and the pool will be on your left at the intersection of East Ruby Hill Drive and Piemonte Drive.
- There is plenty of seating at our pool, the visitor’s designated area is to the rear of the pool on the grassy slope. As your families come into the pool through the gate, your seating area will be under and behind the arbor on the far side of the pool. We will have setup crew members at the pool to help direct your families.
- As for parking, your families may park in the parking lot and on the pool side of East Ruby Hill Drive. Please have your families refrain from parking on the homes side of East Ruby Hill Drive – the street gets too narrow if cars park on both sides of the street.
- We will start with our warmups at 8:00 am; your warmups start at 8:25 and go til 8:50 am.
- We will have our scratch meeting promptly at 8:10 am.
- We will start the meet at 9:00 am.
- We will have a snack bar.
Reminder: Tuesday July 12th – Pasta Feed
Next Tuesday, July 12, is our team Pasta Feed. Your swim team board provides a delicious pasta dinner for all Stingray swimmers (swimmers only, not families). We will feed each age group directly after each practice. Parents, please plan to pick up your swimmer about 30 minutes or so later than usual. A big thank you to Kim Beatty to organize this for all of us.

Well, we ended out our dual meet season today. This has been the fastest swim season ever. I think we ended it on a high note. This is always one of my most favorite meets.
Thank you to all of the swimmers who showed up on time and again ready to swim and cheer on our team. We only had one scratch today and that was due to an illness. That makes your coaches’ job and my job so much easier. Thank you. Special congratulations to Hannah Loeffler who bettered her own record in the 6&under butterfly to a 22.24 and Jack Payan who bettered his record in the 15-18 free to a 22.35. Here are the new records
I also want to wish all our senior swimmers the best of luck in their future. Know that you’re always welcome at DP, and we hope you’ll be back to visit in the future.
Thank you, parent volunteers, for running another great swim meet. You’re all pros and veterans now! Can’t say it enough…thank you to Kevin Suto and Rusty Hicks for providing us the best snack bar in the league for all six of our home meets this season. You both have gone way above and beyond, and I think I speak for the entire team when I say, Thank You So Much. We are lucky to have two other helpers–Hiroshi Doi and Randy Vandiver–who do whatever we ask and whatever we haven’t thought to ask yet. Your help is greatly appreciated as well.
Coaches, thank you for teaching our swimmers how to swim and race. Your constant efforts and time spent at the pool are recognized and we thank you for that. You now have one last BIG meet to seed for us. Good luck

Our next swim meet will be the final meet of the season, Championships, and is schedule for Saturday, July 31 at DBAC. (new location this year) The meet will begin at 8:00 a.m. More championship info to follow within the next day or so. This looks to be a very close and exciting meet. We all need to rest up, sleep well, eat well, and get pumped up! Can’t wait. Your coaches are seeding the meet as this is being typed. If your swimmer isn’t planning to swim at champs and you haven’t let your coach know, call me ASAP. 462-5932.
