Briarhill gave us great competition tonight. It was many years ago that their program was barely running with few swimmers. They’ve come a long way. I think it’s good. I love nothing more than a night meet and watching those final free relay swims. Exhilarating! Briarhill complimented us on a great meet. They loved seeing cheering around the pool. they said this was their first meet this season where cheering was taking place. Wouldn’t want it any other way.
Thank you to all who helped at tonight’s meet. I appreciate all your help.
Swimmers, thank you for again trying so hard and swimming your best. Those great coaches of ours keep finding new ways to motivate you. I think the glow sticks worked. Times keep continuing to drop. I’d also like to note and thank the “big kids” who’ve been coming to coach julianne’s practice to help and work with the 6&u and 7-8 groups. Our little ones are getting lots of attention and help which is what they need. You big kids are making a difference. Thank you.
I’d like to remind all swimmers to please clear out their ribbon folders after each meet.
On a slightly different note, I’d like to send out a big CONGRATULATIONS to Del Prado’s very own coach Jamie Plummer, who has just joined the faculty at Foothill high school. She’s now a real teacher. Jamie, we wish you the very best this fall and we’re all so very proud of you.
Our next meet is Saturday, July 12 against the city of Dublin at their pool. That meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. there is no practice the rest of this week and optional monday morning will be July 7.
Our crew of stroke and turn judges is getting “old” and we are losing one due to a move to Southern California. if you have swimming knowledge or are now or used to be a swimmer and you’d be interested in becoming a judge for next season, please let me know.
Take good care and have a happy and safe 4th of July.
Great job tonight.
Go Del Prado!!
Joan
