Yes, that was quite an unusual beginning to our meet today. Thank you all for being so patient–especially swimmers, and line-up parents. For some reason the computer wouldn’t seed the meet to 4 lanes. It would only do 6 which we didn’t have today. A HUGE thank you to Carol Mayes who worked so hard to manually seed the meet and help Briarhill print reports needed to begin and run the meet. If you see her, buy her a drink, rub her back/neck, kneel before her. She worked until 10:45. Her job is usually done by 9:00. We’d still be there if Carol hadn’t brought our computer and printer as a “back-up.” again, it’s so great to have people whom you can rely on to do a job. Another big thank you to Terry Beatty who started the entire meet for briarhill. They don’t have a starter and asked if Terry would help them. Their loss is our gain. And to the rest of you who volunteered today, thank you, too.
Briarhill ran a great meet today. Their coaches and coordinators were very organized and their swimmers were prepared and ready to swim. I loved the sign welcoming us on their fence.
Thank you, Coach Taylor, for stepping in for Coach Julianne today. All your coaches want you to know that we only have two weeks left before champs. Now is the time for 100% commitment from everyone involved with our team. Please try your best to get to practice, every day. Private lessons or regular swim lessons are a great supplement to practice but not a substitute for coming to practice.
Our next meet is our final dual meet of the year. My, how time flies when you’re having fun… we swim against Pleasanton Meadows at our pool next Saturday, July 28. The meet will begin a 9:00 a.m. all swimmers must check in with their coach by 8:00 a.m. The scratch meeting will be at 8:15. please notify your coach in writing asap if you will not be swimming at this meet or the champ meet.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Hope to see many of you tonight at the pool luau.
Go Stingrays.
Joan
