Note 1:  Food and Snacks Available

Well, things have changed. There will now be a snack bar available at the champ meet. I don’t know who will be running this, but one will be available on deck. Some of the items provided will be:

Coffee, Soda, Hot dogs, Pizza, and Jamba Juice.

Hope this will help some of you.

Note 2:  Volunteers

Hi team, I have attached the volunteer list for our championship meet this Saturday.  Please look it over so you know what job you are responsible for – if you have any questions, please feel free to ask Lori or me.  Some jobs have changed and some have been assigned randomly.  Thank you very much in advance for all of your help.

Note 3: Championship Programs

Just wanted to let you know that on friday, if you visit the league website, trivalleyswim.us, you can access a championship meet program.

There will be none for sale at the meet. This program will give you event, heat, and lane assignments for your swimmer. If there are any changes to our entries due to a swimmer not showing up/sick/etc., a coach or myself will speak with any individual swimmers affected by this change and let them know. This will only affect relay events. Any individual events will just be scratched. (open lanes)

Rumor has it Bart and Lisa Simpson may be joining DPST next year. Bart will be in the 9-10 Boys and Lisa will be in the 7-8 girls. Maggie will join the 6 and unders the year after.

Thank you to all who made yesterday such a fun, well-run meet. Ilove every meet but yesterday’s was especially enjoyable. Congratulations and best wishes to all of our graduating seniors and thank you to all the brave souls who swam in the pool board vs. swim board relay. What entertainment!

Our next meet is the final meet of the year–championships at the Livermore Aquatic Center (Website, Directions). We still are in need of one more swimmer to opt out to make our number of 120 swimmers. If your swimmer will not be swimming in that meet or you’d like to volunteer a swimmer to sit out, please let me know asap. Our team’s entries for that meet are due tomorrow at 6 p.m. I will send a separate message regarding the championship meet.

Next Sunday, August 5th, is our awards party/potluck bbq. your swim board will provide the hamburgers/hotdogs/drinks/fixin’s, you will bring a side-dish, salad, or dessert to share. This is a family event. we will begin serving at 5:00 p.m. and will try our best to begin the awards portion of the evening at 6:00. All swimmers will receive their award and hopefully, another wonderful slide show from Vern Klein, capturing our championship meet, will be shown. Look for more information on this party at the pool, and if you’d like to help Cindi Sabatini with this party, please contact her. Thanks.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Swimmers, eat well, get lots of rest, and make as many practices as you can this week to be in top form for next week’s meet.

Go stingrays,
Joan

July 21 Swim Meet Results

More swim meet photos here.

Yes, that was quite an unusual beginning to our meet today. Thank you all for being so patient–especially swimmers, and line-up parents. For some reason the computer wouldn’t seed the meet to 4 lanes. It would only do 6 which we didn’t have today. A HUGE thank you to Carol Mayes who worked so hard to manually seed the meet and help Briarhill print reports needed to begin and run the meet. If you see her, buy her a drink, rub her back/neck, kneel before her. She worked until 10:45. Her job is usually done by 9:00. We’d still be there if Carol hadn’t brought our computer and printer as a “back-up.” again, it’s so great to have people whom you can rely on to do a job. Another big thank you to Terry Beatty who started the entire meet for briarhill. They don’t have a starter and asked if Terry would help them. Their loss is our gain. And to the rest of you who volunteered today, thank you, too.

Briarhill ran a great meet today. Their coaches and coordinators were very organized and their swimmers were prepared and ready to swim. I loved the sign welcoming us on their fence.

Thank you, Coach Taylor, for stepping in for Coach Julianne today. All your coaches want you to know that we only have two weeks left before champs. Now is the time for 100% commitment from everyone involved with our team. Please try your best to get to practice, every day. Private lessons or regular swim lessons are a great supplement to practice but not a substitute for coming to practice.

Our next meet is our final dual meet of the year. My, how time flies when you’re having fun… we swim against Pleasanton Meadows at our pool next Saturday, July 28. The meet will begin a 9:00 a.m. all swimmers must check in with their coach by 8:00 a.m. The scratch meeting will be at 8:15. please notify your coach in writing asap if you will not be swimming at this meet or the champ meet.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Hope to see many of you tonight at the pool luau.

Go Stingrays.

Joan

Complete Swim Meet Results - July 14th

Thank you to all who volunteered at today’s meet. When speaking with other coordinators and hearing about some problems they have with their teams, I have great joy in telling them what a wonderful group of families we have on our team. Volunteers from our team, whose own swimmers were sick, still showed up today to fulfill their job. That’s commitment. We would never expect that, but how wonderful it is to brag about. Also, thank you for being on time and ready to swim. We only had one scratch today, a sick swimmer. Ruby hill was blown away by that. They were scratching their own swimmers for at least 20 minutes. Their one coach had such a headache. Again, with great pleasure I told them we only had one. A big thank you to all of you for making my job and the coaches’ so much easier.

Swimmers, you never cease to amaze me and your coaches. Times keep dropping. Those relay races at the end were so exciting today–especially those 9-10 girls. Wow!! Keep up the hard work.

Coaches, we love you. thank you for offering so much of your time and giving our swimmers so much encouragement and motivation.

Our next meet is one many of us are dreading. Nothing personal against briarhill (7084 hansen drive, dublin), but their pool is not regulation length. Times will really be fast next week but won’t count for championship seeding. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. all swimmers must check in with their coach by 8:00 a.m. the scratch meeting will be at 8:15. If your swimmer will not be swimming, please notify your coach in writing by Monday. Coach John will not be at this meet. His brother will be getting married in Tahoe. Have a great time. Coaches Tom and Jamie will be acting as 9-10 coaches for this meet. Also, Coach Julianne has a previously-arranged vacation and also will not be at this meet either. Assistant Coach Taylor will be acting as the 6&under coach for this meet.

There were a pair of girls’ blue shorts (rage soccer) and a white foothill t-shirt left today. please let me know if they belong to you. Also, next Saturday the pool board is hosting a luau. Look for information regarding this fun event next time you’re at the pool.

That’s it for now. Take good care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Go stingrays!

Complete Meet Results - July11th.

Yes, there were a lot of races where we were competing against ourselves. Fast has a very small team.

Thank you to everyone who helped run tonight’s meet. An extra big thank you to those that stuck around after the meet and helped put the pool back in shape. It’s not easy doing that in the cool, dark of the night. Thank you also, Stingray cafe’s head chef, Bud Mayes. Bud brought in some new things to try and sell tonight, and they were a hit! I think all of his food items sold out. Thanks, Bud, and his crew, for raising so much money for our team.

Thank you, swimmers, for again dropping time and trying your best. you all are fun to watch race. congratulations to Stephanie Doi who set a new record in the 11-12 freestyle with a time of 28.32. way to swim fast!

Coaches, thank you for seeding another great meet. you all have such great knowledge, enthusiasm, and patience with the swimmers. You’re making our team get better and better each week.

Go Stingrays,

Joan
