Del Prado Stingrays

Final Score

  • Club Sport Tidal Waves  565.50
  • Del Prado Stingrays        427.50

Wow! There is always more excitement when we swim against our big rivals and really, really great swimming. my voice is still hoarse from all the screaming I did during those relays. It doesn’t get better than that!

Thank you once again, team, for showing up prepared and ready to swim. that was one of the smoothest-running meets I’ve ever been to. Swimmers, all of you should be proud of yourselves. Times continued to drop and all the cheering you did for your teammates really made a difference.  Two records were broken today. Those 11-12 girls are on fire! The free relay team of Lindsey Dewilde, Elaina Gates, Kristine Waldear, and Stephanie Doi set a new record of 1:56.03. Eric Gates set a new 13-14 back record with a 30.12. congrats to all.

Parents/volunteers, thank you for helping with all that you did to make today’s meet run so well. there was a ring of stingray red all around the pool. One of the best views ever. I’m proud to say I’m a part of this team. We really have great spirit. Beth Borchers, thank you for donating Capri Suns to the snack bar. I know Bud was happy to have that. Jim Bahls gave me a copy of an article from a magazine he subscribes to regarding recreational swim leagues. It is so well written and “right on.” I’ll post this copy near the entrance of the pool. If you get a chance, read it. I think you’ll agree with what it says.

Coaches, you are the best. I loved the cheer. You must be doing something right. I witnessed lots of otter pops being eaten today. (swimmers received one if their time today dropped from last week.)

Our next meet is next Saturday, July 7 at our pool against the city of Dublin Green Gators. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. All swimmers need to arrive and check in with their coach by 8:00 a.m. The scratch meeting will be at 8:15am.

We will be holding practice for those that can attend this Wednesday, July 4. also, if you know now of any meets that your swimmer will not be swimming, please let your coach know now.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and take good care.

Go stingrays,

Joan

Here is a write up in the Independent newpaper titled Del Prado Fast.

What a perfect day to start our dual meet season. It felt great to be back by the side of a pool watching incredible swimming from so many. Times were already dropping from those set at our timed-trials.

For some kids this was their very first swim meet, and they did so well. One of my favorite things is watching those little ones jump in/dive in and cross the pool.

We had two individual and one relay record broken today. congratulations to Stephanie Doi in setting a new 11-12 fly record with a time of 31.51; Taylor Peterson broke a 10-year-old record in the 15-18 free with a 26.11; and the 11-12 medley relay team of Stephanie Doi, Sara Cohen, Lindsey Dewilde, and Elaina Gates with a 2:14.50. way to swim fast!

I want to thank everyone for showing up on time, checking in with coaches, and being ready to swim. from a coordinator’s standpoint, you are fantastic. it makes everything so much easier when you have a team you can depend on to show up on time and be ready. you all did that so i thank you. i think we’re the envy of many other teams. Thank you also to all those that worked at today’s meet. We could never do it without all of your help.

Thank you, coaches, for all the great help you’re giving our swimmers. I see so much instruction and encouragement, and it’s paying off. Coach Tom will be gone for this week’s practices. He and his wife Gina are enjoying a vacation celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary. have fun you two. coach john will be filling in during this week’s evening practices, and coach Jamie will be helping with the morning practices.

I know john goard sent our meet results to all of us tonight. if you’d like to see those results in a different format or any meet results, visit the league website, www.trivalleyswim.us, for complete team results.

Our next meet is saturday, June 30, at home against our big rivals, club sport pleasanton. that meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. all swimmers will need to check in with their coach by 8:00 a.m. if your swimmer will not be swimming at this meet, your coach must know in writing by this monday.

That’s it for now. take good care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Go stingrays,

Joan
